Walk with me
Commissioned by the University Of Huddersfield and Cultures of Creative Health, Walk with Me is an interactive sound installation designed to explore diverse environments. It invites two participants, or “walkers,” to engage with the installation by turning a handle that activates a set of gears. This movement allows them to "touch" and explore various materials and objects. Inspired by a series of walks that involved carers and their children, which examined pace, identity, and connection to surroundings, the installation seeks to recreate the sensations of these experiences. Elements from these walks, including objects and environmental contexts, are integrated into the machine. As the participants turn the handles, they have the freedom to choose their own pace, focus on specific objects or environments, change direction, and discover their own relationship with each other and their surroundings.
